The ____________ was ruined by Donald Trump.

Choose your own adventure.
/u/allisjow
I expect RFK Jr to swim in it.

The biggest surprise is that Trump didn't invest in
bleach stock and fill the entire thing with it.
/u/Brave-Professor8275
Yes, RFK would most likely see a cure to Covid or
another disease that he doesn't support vaccine for, in
swimming in this cesspool!
/u/TiePrestigious7265
Probably actually DID do the investment part. Wouldn't
surprise me a bit.
/u/ItBegins2Tell
Nah; the sewage parts per million are too low.
/u/BlitzMalefitz
He will swim in with his mouth open because I would not
put it behind him to claim the algae extends his life
/u/MesabiRanger
"Choose you own adventure" is Reddit comment of the day!
/u/ViolettaQueso
And this particular adventure was at least $15M of tax
payer dollars.
/u/Actor412
The _________ was ruined by donald trump.

It cost the US taxpayers $ _______ million dollars.
/u/ViolettaQueso
1) everything 2) infinity
/u/Conscious-Rip4407
Hey, you weren't supposed to be paying attention!
/u/ViolettaQueso
It's hot. I'd be doing anything else but attention
paying if it weren't so flipping hot lol
/u/Bulky-Internal8579
I'm only 100% sure that whomever actually got paid for
this shitty work gave money to Trump or someone in his
family.
/u/ViolettaQueso
"No bid contracts" were exactly why we used to have
policies and DEI before this effer took over.
/u/HotPinkLollyWimple
The enshittification continues.
/u/BortInSpace
You are correct:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/may/09/trump-no
-bid-contract-lincoln-memorial-reflecting-pool
/u/Brave-Professor8275
Since when do presidents get to decide to spend this
outrageous amount of tax payers dollars on refurbishing
the White House or its associated monuments? This should
at the very least be decided by bipartisan votes with
recommendations from the finance committee
/u/ViolettaQueso
That's actually the constitution. Congress is ignoring
it.
/u/TiePrestigious7265
It is Trump who is ignoring it.
/u/Roakana
It's is both. Congress has power of the purse but they
have stepped away from their responsibilities. Thus
Trump does what he wants.
/u/ViolettaQueso
Yep. It's such a mess.
/u/Actor412
Since the US voters allowed a notorious crime family
take over the white house.
/u/Comprehensive_Link67
That would require the US to have a working government.
We're well past that point.
/u/KawasakiBinja
They don't, but Congress are such fucking cowards they
don't dare tell Trump "no" or else he'll either sicc
MAGA on them or primary them all. Bunch of cowards.
/u/Hntrbdnshog
GOP members of Congress care more about their jobs than
our democracy.
/u/dundermiflinity
Benefits. They don't give a shit about their jobs.
/u/Azair_Blaidd
Most of which probably not even going into the project
/u/NOTACOSTACOSTACOS
Like Mad Libs but Trump ruining shit
/u/woodcookiee
Side note: Has there ever been right wing parody of Mad
Libs? Like, it's right there in the name, it's so
easy... but I guess most of their audience has probably
never played (or even heard of it) so they wouldn't get
it
/u/Katomon-EIN-
I don't think they're smart enough to make that
connection
/u/andrew303710
Trump only realized recently that dumb has a b in it so
I assume most of his supporters couldn't even complete a
mad libs
/u/andante528
"A silent 'b', folks! Many people are learning about
this, many smart people ... now smart is the opposite of
dumb, if you didn't know. Many people don't. Silent
letters, why not silent women? Right?"
/u/AmberCurious
Absolutely, everything the man touches turns to shit.
/u/BeastInDarkness
Some things a good bit more literally than others. Case
in point.
/u/SkynyrdCohen
I will never get over The Rose Garden.
/u/jd3marco
It would be more efficient to list the things that Trump
has touched and not ruined.
/u/saintdudegaming
but they just drained it!
/u/Bulky-Internal8579
They're making it swampier and more rape friendly - you
know, Trump priorities...

/u/Homebrewer01
Don't believe your eyes, this isnt swamp water. This is
the most purest natural spring water you've ever seen.
The pope will be asking to use reflecting pool water in
lieu of holy water.
/u/herefromyoutube
If trump doesn't drink it but eats fish fillets....
/u/spilk
the whole point of draining the swap was to make room so
they could fill it back up with toxic waste
/u/xXXxRMxXXx
Yes, they drained the swamp, and they put that swamp
water in this pool.
/u/SteynXS
I THOUGHT POOLS WERE BLUE OLNY IN FAIRY TALES
MEANT FOR SOMEONE ELSE BUT NOT FOR ME
SO I CHANGE IT,
YES I DID (AND BIGLY)
THAT'S THE WAY IT SEEMED
DISAPPOINTMENT! OBAMA STILL HAUNTS ALL OF MY DREAMS!

Orange Mouth - BELIEVE ME!
/u/hurdurBoop
that's actually blue and perfectly clear
/u/Brocid3n
Actually is mostly "bUt BiDeN" and their other regular
talking points without any actual proof
/u/hurdurBoop
DOE BIBBEN MADES IT GREENE THO
/u/SkunkleButt
You joke but they seriously blamed it on biden and obama
claiming it's algae leftover in the pipes from their
administration.
/u/andante528
I wish you were kidding, because that's beyond pathetic,
but I know you're not.
/u/ItsSadTimes
The average American never ceases to amaze me with how
stupid they are. I had my suspicions of that George
Carlin quote "Think of how stupid the average person is,
and realize half of them are stupider than that." But in
the last like decade it's been proven right over and
over again.
/u/ShadowTacoTuesday
Can you imagine, if algae could even live without sun,
why it wouldn't simply be the contractor's
responsibility to flush the pipes for a tiny fraction of
that multi million dollar contract? That's the type of
people who don't get anything done and only play the
blame game.

Anyway it's an ongoing process to keep re-cleaning it
and nothing from years ago affects it. And the
maintenance system was already in place before the
unrelated paint job.
/u/hurdurBoop
it's not that i don't buy it, it's just that it doesn't
matter coming from the stupidest political movement in
history
/u/justalazygamer
This is the source. If the time stamp doesn't work you
can see this at 44 minutes.

This is an important video to have because this is
someone who came to DC trying to make Trump look good
and it is timestamped proving it is from today.

EDIT: She also has video of how much better it was
under Joe Biden. She only complains because Trump told
them to.
/u/minidazzler1
But where was Obama? Why didnt he sort this out? /s
/u/Responsible-Chest-26
Funny thing is the special pump Obama had installed
wasnt turned on, or something along those lines
/u/snarkerella
They took it out and never installed something else to
take its place.
/u/No_Fairweathers
That sums up literally 99% of what Trump has done

Removed funding and necessary things from previous
administrations claiming they were unnecessary, then
when shit hits the fan because he destroyed what was
working, claims it was their fault and he was just
trying to fix things.
/u/LadyJR
Like the playbook for preventing a catastrophic disease
from ravage the country.
/u/No_Fairweathers
How was he supposed to know the CDC's warning of an
extremely high risk of a pandemic outbreak in the coming
years wasn't all just made up nonsense? /s
/u/andrew303710
Lmao that's fucking hilarious, Trump is having the worst
birthday weekend so far it's glorious. First his name
comes off the Kennedy center and now this.

Praying for rain and thunderstorms tomorrow night
during the UFC fight, that would be the ultimate sign
that God exists. Odds are looking good.

Most events will evacuate with lightning in close
proximity, my bet is, there will be that lightning but
Trump will put out a memorandum that they do not stop or
delay anything.

Maybe go as far as to start firing NWS folks who put
that warning out for citizens.
/u/SocialistNixon
NWS gonna all get the day off tomorrow.
/u/RealGoGo97
My most fervent wish is that there will be a tremendous
thunder and lightning storm... with high winds. "The
Claw" will come down. Please make it so!

Of course, it goes without saying that I don't want
anyone to be hurt, but I do want total destruction of
the structure and a complete interruption of the fights.
/u/EobardT
Also of of curiosity I looked up the card for the fight,
almost half of the athletes are international. Way to
promote America!
/u/JerseyCoJo
Apparently they didn't invite an American champion. Sean
Strickland. Sean pops off at the mouth allot and is a
bit rough around the edges but said straight up he's not
fighting to entertain the Epstein class. He just fought
and won the belt a few weeks ago so he wasn't going to
be booked to fight but for him to not be invited is
wild.

Dana White supports people who rape kids. No two ways
about it.
/u/Stable-Jackfruit
Like Obamacare, we've got to remove Obamapump as well
/u/Responsible-Chest-26
Yeah, it was something like that
/u/sideshowmario
You mean Barack HUSSEIN Obama? Wasn't he busy ignoring
9/11 or building a secret army to invade cities to take
all our guns or something?
/u/andante528
Yes, I remember when Obama showed up to take all of our
guns, but he was so scared of the guns and the regular
mustard in our AMERICAN refrigerator that he ran away.

Would Trump do this? No, he can't run a single step.
That's how brave he is.
/u/Cereal_kilher
Taking a nap with sleepy Joe on Joey Tribiani's couch. I
heard it's comfortable.
/u/lallapalalable
Lmao it looked beautiful in that second video. I bet
they literally pumped water right from the river without
treatment after the paint job
/u/Baelzabub
It wouldn't have really mattered where they pumped it
from unless they constantly chemically treated it after
darkening the bottom. Dark surfaces heat quicker in
sunlight. You know what LOVES warm water and sunlight?
Algae.
/u/jaydubbles
A body of water that size has a well-established ecology
if beneficial microorganisms keeping the nutrients in
balance. They destroyed that when they drained it and
painted it. Now that ecology has to reestablish itself,
which would take quite a while with the help of
commercially available bacterial supplements. But
they'll probably dump chemicals in it for a quick fix
which will make it worse. Anyone who has kept an
aquarium knows about this. I would assume any
knowledgeable federal park employee would also
understand.

Anyway, I hope the stank ass water ruins his big
birthday party in his front yard. I hope he's miserable
because it looks like shit when he's trying to impress
all his friends.
/u/WoodShoeDiaries
How long until it starts to stink 🤢
/u/thatcodingboi
She talks about it leaking into the Potomac... Where
does she think the water comes from to fill this? It's
pumped from the Potomac...

Also the leaks they were discussing weren't from the
pool itself, it was in the pipes from the Potomac that
pump it into the pool that were the real problem. Guess
what they didn't fix...
/u/PowderPills
"It was a toxic mess before"

Yeah but not now, huh? Shaking my smh
/u/SirTiffAlot
Listening to this lady justify everything and STILL say
it's gorgeous. 'They'll figure it out'
/u/feignapathy
Literally just a scam to funnel $15m to one of Trump's
buddies

Awarded the contract with no bid and no competition by
Trump
/u/TENDER_ONE
He's actually famous for never paying his contractors.
It's most likely that the "pool guy" he hired is really
just a front man who receives a small percentage of the
contract in order to funnel it all into Trump's own
pockets. He would be incensed to know that he helped
enrich anyone else. That's why I knew the $1.8 billion
fund to J6ers would never happen. He wants that money
for himself. They'd never see more than a couple
thousand for their service.
/u/vanalla
he's famous for not paying contractors when its him
footing the bill. Now he gets the coffers paid for by
American taxpayers to buy people with.
/u/Round-Kick-5580
So did the extra heat and energy cause an almost instant
algae bloom because it boils off any chlorine too
fast???
/u/SkiyeBlueFox
Apparently they also made the filter nonfunctional
/u/Memerandom_
But they only hired the best sleazebags with no
experience outside pools at only 4x over budget. Wcgw?
/u/Homebrewer01
Don't get all pool sciency on us. Obvious and only
conclusion is sabotage.
/u/AboveGroundFool
Listen all y'all it's a sabotage!
/u/michilio
Ah can't stand it. You know they planned it

Imma set straigh, this water feature
/u/BayouByrnes
Ah. Fuck me. I lol'd hard at this. Thank you.
/u/K4m30
Didn't they remove the pump or filter or whatever, and
not replace it?
/u/NotActuallyGus
The piping and filters were already giving out, and then
they refused to fix them and broke them the rest of the
way
/u/BungleBums
Ten points and a gold star for summing it up for the
rest of us
/u/vahntitrio
My guess is the paint they used has microparticles that
dissolve and provide either nitrogen or phosphorus.
Those 2 nutrients are the limiting factor for algae. In
most natural bodies of water there is so much nitrogen
(thanks to farming) that phosphorus is the limiting
agent.
/u/Fun_Client_6232
It seems to me (and I have absolutely no expertise in
this area) that an aquarium sized (like Sea World sized)
filtration system was needed instead of just painting it
blue.
/u/snarkerella
When you're so petty you fail to include the
Obama-implemented filtration system back into the pool.
/u/Attica451
But but...they painted the bottom blue so this wouldn't
happen!
/u/The_Velvet_Bulldozer
Just look at that American Flag Green! It was always
green.
/u/not_productive1
The reflecting pool always tended to grow algae and
wasn't, like, perfect or anything before. It leaked,
filtration wasn't really possible, it definitely needed
some work.

The funniest thing here is that Trump decided to be
super loud and fucking weird about said work, focusing
on painting the fucking thing like a swimming pool
rather than fixing the real issues, so now every time
it's kind of gross everybody's going to blame him for
it.
/u/Underbark
Painting it just makes the water absorb heat even more
efficiently, making it even more hospitable for algae.

Literally anyone with a high school science education
could have predicted this.
/u/whatdoblindpeoplesee
His parents never got him a goldfish/beta/guppies and it
shows.
/u/acu2005
Paint it black, let the sun boil the algae away.
/u/pr0zach
I see a green pool and I want to paint it black.
/u/SavageNomad6
That's my thing... I've never been there, don't know a
ton of details about it, only really seen the more like
popular historic photos of it. So idk how green it
typically is or isn't. You could tell me that's exactly
how it looked since it was built and I'd believe you.

The fact that this dude has made such a huge deal about
how perfect it is and how no one but him could fix it is
why I find it hilarious that this is what it looks like.
/u/not_productive1
Exactly. Like all this shit is old and fiddly and it's
hard to maintain it, and if you were just honest about
that, nobody'd even connect it back to you. I remember
once Obama had to leave the WH for like a week and a
half for badly needed maintenance work. He didn't yell
about how he was the greatest builder to ever build a
thing and nobody even assumed he was fucking involved,
because the president generally isn't also the super.
/u/amphorousish
I'm from the DC area & will echo the other response in
saying that the reflecting pool has always been leaky,
fiddly, algae-prone, and absolutely chock full of goose
poop.

Like, Forrest Gump came out when I was a child and my
immediate response was revulsion when he & Jenny waded
through it towards each other.

That being said, this is on the broken end of bad and
is hilarious for all of the reasons you mentioned.
/u/Nythoren
They're already blaming Biden. Yes, really.
/u/andante528
The Department of the Interior, which our taxes pay for,
claims that "dormant" algae from Biden and Obama's
presidencies is now showing up because ... I guess it
sensed that Trump wanted the pool to look blue?
/u/spilk
democrat terrorists activated their algae sleeper cells!
thanks obama!
/u/SopaDeKaiba
https://giphy.com/gifs/cN9Fq0kBbqxGg
/u/carpenter1965
No No. Thats American Blue. Don't believe your lying
eyes.
/u/ronerychiver
I don't get it. A peace deal was signed with Algae five
days ago.
/u/Jmaneke
Everything trump touches turns to shit.
/u/cha0sb1ade
The color is symbolic of the wasted spending on the
project
/u/NexusNickel
6 bankruptcies . 3 different wives. 1 wife bought from a
sex offender.

Failed husband. Failed father. Failed President.

Raped children with Epstein. Is profiting off MAGA
idiots and the White House.
/u/G3tsPlastered4Alvng
It's almost like people said a dark color like blue
would create a habitat for algae
